This is available from the G&W Instruments website at http://www.gw-instruments.de/blueserial.html If you are upgrading from an earlier version than 1.2.0 please read the release notes for 1.2.0 firmware version below. New Features (compared to 1.2.0) ================================ The remote configuration channel (BS Config) for configuring the device over a Bluetooth SPP connection can be disabled. A new configuraton option (under RS232 settings) optimizes the latency of a connection. Normal mode is optimized for data throughput. Automatic reconnection after a connection loss in Master mode is possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Release Notes for BlueSerial Firmware 1.2.0 Beta 1 April 5 / 2005 G%W Instruments GmbH General Notes ============= This firmware release is a major update from previous firmware versions. Because of many internal changes it is not fully compatible with previous versions of the configuration program. To configure a BlueSerial device with 1.2.X firmware the configuration program version 1.18.6 or above shall be used. This is available from the G&W Instruments website at http://www.gw-instruments.de/blueserial.html Currently, there is no downgrade option. If you need to downgrade from a 1.2.X firmware vesrion to a 1.1.X firmware version please contact G&W . After updating from a 1.1.X firmware version some configuration settings will be lost. You need to reconfigure the device with the configuration program. This firmware release is believed to be stable and is tested carefully. However, it is not yet fully production tested and therefor in Beta state. Installation ============ Requirements: x86 based PC running WIndows NT / 2K / XP with serial port. Note: Windows 98/ME may work but are not tested. To install the new firmware unpack all files from the archive to a separate directory. Make sure to use the folder names contained in the archive. Connect the BlueSerial device to COM1 of your computer and power it up. Start the update program "fwupdate12.exe". Wait until the update is complete. New Features ============ The Firmware is now Bluetooth 1.2 compatible, including Adaptive Frequency Hopping. Disconnect on DTR drop: previous firmware versions always diconect an active Bluetooth connection when they detected an DTR signal drop. This feature can now be disabled. Connect on DTR rise: previous versions started a Bluetooth connection only when they received data on the serial port. Optional a Bluetooth connection can now be started when a rise on the DTR signal is detected. Send ACK on CR received: this is a special option only usefull with some bar code scanners. The BlueSerial will send an ACK character each time it receives a CR. Do not enable this feature for general setups because it will slow down data tranfer signifcant. Changes and Correction ====================== There have been a lot of internal changes and fixes which will allow for easier enhancments and new features in the future. Some user visible changes are listed below. The RTS output will now correctly be set to the state of the remote device RTS state. Sending the own RS232 parameters (Baud Rate, Stop Bits, Parity) to a remote device will now work correctly. If this feature is enabled it is recomended that "Ignore from Remote" is set, too. The "No Handshake" option can now be set from the configuration program. The "bshs.exe" tool used to set this option in 1.1.X firmware version will not function anymore.
